Are you smarter than the sea?
An offensive question at first
For the sea knows not geometry
Or the distance around the earth
The sea cannot communicate
It’s no master of the arts
It can’t calculate an interest rate
Or assemble puzzle parts
The sea cannot work a tool
Can’t drive a nail through a board
But the sea indeed is not a fool
For the sea obeys its Lord
When Jesus utters a command
The sea listens right away
It is smart enough to understand
And heed what God may say
So are you smarter than the sea?
I’ll give you a little clue
If you dare ignore your Maker’s plea
The sea should be teaching you
This is the poem written in conjunction with our Sunday night teaching on Mark 4:35-41 where Jesus calms the storm.
